4 Ways To Automate Your Social Media Content & Still Keep It Personal

If you had to post every single tweet and Facebook update for your business yourself, how much time would it take? Possibly many hours per week. That’s why so many people like to use automation tools when it comes to their social media channels.

They can create their posts way in advance and schedule them to be posted at the appropriate time. But this can lead to those posts losing something of the personal touch which is so important. Here’s how to stop that from happening. 

Think Carefully 

Using automation when it comes to social media is a good thing, and it will give you a lot more free time to work on other aspects of your business, or to enjoy some fun with family and friends at a Milwaukee Escape Room or in a nice restaurant. However, it’s important to think carefully about your posts before you set them up. Spending an hour or so at the beginning of each week automating the posts for the rest of the week is a good way to do this. You can link posts to one another and write on a specific theme, for example, with one post following on from the previous one. 

Tailor Your Posts 

It’s easy to write one post then copy and paste it from Facebook to Twitter, for example, especially now that Twitter has a longer character limit. However, although it’s easy, it may not be a good idea. You need to write specific posts that work on each different social media channel. The people who are engaging with you on Twitter may not be the same ones as are using Facebook to connect with you. 

Remember also that you should research which platforms your customers use the most. That way you won’t waste your time posting to multiple channels when you only need to post to one or two. 

Don’t Forget To Engage 

Although you can schedule your posts in advance, you can’t schedule your responses to questions and comments, and this crucial step should not be forgotten. Take some time each day (it only needs to be a few minutes) to respond to people who are contacting you on social media as this gives a good impression of your company and the way you work. Take part in discussions and show that you are a real person. Automation is great, but the personal touch is essential if you want to make a difference. 

Don’t Schedule Too Far In Advance 

When you schedule more than a week’s worth of social media postings in advance, you can fall into difficulties. Firstly, you can easily forget what you have posted and post again, causing confusion and making it difficult for people to engage with you. Secondly, events can change, and new information comes to light very quickly. If you schedule ahead of time, your posts may seem out of date or irrelevant by the time they actually come to light.
